The Girl Who Waits

It’s the days and nights alone,

Wishing he’d come back.

Waiting by the phone,

Not knowing if he’s under attack.

It’s an unpredictable,

Tough way of living.

But there’s an unbelievable,

Breath-taking feeling.

The waiting will end,

He will return.

My heart will mend.

With this I’ll learn

To treasure what I have

For nothing is ever promised.

It’s the military life,

And I’m a military wife.
