The Girl Under the Veil

Location

To look at me, you wouldn't see

the person I am underneath.

Always happy, always smiling

on the inside, always crying

"You're looking for attention." "It's just a bad day."

At least, that's what they always say.

I go unnoticed, slipping by

while on some days, inside, I die.

Behind this mask, I always hide

so they won't see how I feel Inside.

"All you ever do is whine."

"You're problems aren't as important as mine."

To life the veil could be the end.

The only thing I can do is pretend.

They wouldn't care if I let them know,

if I were to ever let it show.

Who I am is not the person I seem;

on the inside, you can't hear me scream.
