The girl behind the curtain

I am just me. I have nothing to hide behind these two curtains of mine.

My eyes see all these fake people just barely surviving.

I am judged because of my opinions, when in fact they are the truth.

Women are equal to men, just as blacks are equal to whites.

It doesn't matter if you're black, blue, red, or green; what matters is what's in your heart.

If people could just see the facts that many label my "opinions", Mike Brown might still be alive; the world wouldn't have to see all this genocide and homicide.

Behind my curtains I am just a girl with facts, not opinions. I am not a "girl percussionist", I am just a percussionist. I grew up with a voice, and I cannot hide the pride in it.

I am so grateful towards my mom for raising me this way, and I would not change a thing from my childhood. I was raised to believe in myself and others, though I cannot help but to lose all faith in humanity. The way it's headed, I'm surprised I have any faith at all.
