The girl behind the curtain

projects a better face

than the one hidden

in another place.

The girl behind the curtain

wants to be seen,

but she doesn't have courage,

though her mind is keen.

This girl behind the curtain

wants to change the world,

but instead she hides in her oyster,

convinced that she's no pearl.

This girl behind the curtain

yearns for love one day,

but thinks she's not good enough,

so she hides away.

The girl behind the curtain,

wants to live her life,

without worrying she'll be judged;

she wants to escape the strife.

That girl behind the curtain

has a home, a heart, a brain.

This girl is a lion

that was far too easily tamed.
