The Gilded Spine
Inspiration.
A lofty word
That tries to paint
The process as
Beautiful,
As all gilded
Words and things do.
It is just fear.
Fear of drowning
In student debts
And mindless jobs.
Fear of fading
Into obscurity.
Just a gray face,
Accomplishing
Nothing at all.
So we lie and
Grit blood stained
Teeth and tongues,
Hiding away
The true spine of
Inspiration.
