The "Gift"
It's a gift, It's a curse
It won't go away
It knaws at my conscience,
An ebbing pain.
Why weren't we more careful?
Why weren't you honest?
You were my first, you promised.
But now I am stuck,
It won't go away, there exists no cure.
Thanks for the empty promises.
To keep to myself or curse someone again?
How can I live with this fate, I won't let it win.
Be cautious they say, careful I am in fact,
To avoid sharing the same fate I exercise tact.
So thank you for the burden, it is now mine to bare,
But when I find the right one;
I hope they won't care.
