Gaia by Alex Wilson
Gaia
There is a tree,
Which provides all the oxygen for life,
It is the sole guardian of all things living,
Upon each branch there are leaves,
One day,
A new leaf grew,
Twisted and ugly,
It decided that it deserved more than the other leaves,
Unaware that it was even a part of the tree of life,
It grew bigger than every other leaf,
Bigger than the tree itself,
It blocked out the sun,
Drowning all the other leaves in darkness,
The twisted leaf leeched from the tree,
Withering it,
And once the tree had died,
From the foolishness of the corrupt leaf,
The leaf, grown so big on the stolen life of others,
Shrunk and died,
With no tree to keep it alive,
