The full armor of God

Ephesians 6:10-11

10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.

11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against

 the wiles of the devil.

The full armor of God.

To slip it on and to be protected.

So your concentration won't be neglected

and through that from life rejected

to become the devil's prey.

When the flesh slips into that armor

to be protected from that lying charmer

you become  like a silly farmer

sowing seeds without preparing the ground.

The armor of God cannot protect the flesh

and never will despite our best.

It is made to put the spirit at rest

and so protect your soul.

The power of God is that safe haven

The belt of truth will keep you from caving.

The breast plate of righteousness feeds your craving

in helping your feet to bring the Gospel of Peace.

As you take the shield and kneel behind it and the helmet of salvation as you mind it.

then the sword of the spirit surely finds it

always and easy to pray for the saints.

So step out of yourself and slip on the pieces.

Protect your spirit and heart before it freezes

for without love the serpent squeezes

your heart into a block of stone.
