Frightfully Dependent

Location

She looked into the mirror and watched herself cry

Examined her scars, and let out a sigh

She wiped her own tears; lifted her own spirit

She's screaming inside, where no one can hear it.

With every new day, her mood stayed the same

Mixing sorrow with fear, and anger with shame

Her friends tried to console her when she wasn't so calm

But all she could manage was, "She's supposed to be my mom.."

After that day, she could no longer cry

For she felt her emotions beginning to die

So at home she stayed, the piano she played

Each note seemed to numb her, the pain seemed to fade.

As the years went by, this young woman grew stronger

And she feared, and she cried, and she suffered no longer

Because one day, she opened the door to her heart

And in waltzed a miracle, that soon took its part.

A man just as scarred, with a story to tell

Had captured her heart, and in love she fell.

His heart was so fragile, his purpose was pure

His voice.. so humble; she was never more sure.

He accepted her flaws, he lifted her chin

He told her he loved her for what was within

At that very moment, they both sealed the deal

This love is forever. Together, they'll heal.

She looked into his eyes and felt herself cry

Examined his scars, and let out a sigh

He then wiped her tears, and lifted her spirits

And they both said "I love you" so the whole world could hear it.
