Friend's Misguided Intervention

In life we face many trials,
Some break us down and leave us in denial,
But true friends are there to lift us up,
And help us heal, with love and trust.

Through the darkest days they'll stand by,
Holding our hands, wiping our tears dry,
They're the light in our darkest night,
Guiding us through with all their might.

But what happens when a friend tries,
To mend a broken heart with lies,
Bringing back a love that caused such pain,
Asking us to forgive and forget, like nothing remains.

It's hard to fault a friend who cares,
Who wants to see us happy and repair,
But in doing so, they forget the cost,
Of the hurt and pain that we have lost.

We love our friends, we understand,
Their intentions come from a good hand,
But we cannot ignore our own heart,
Or let go of the pain that tore us apart.

So, my dear friend, though I understand,
Your desire to help and lend a hand,
I cannot ignore the pain that remains,
And the scars that will always remain.

For my ex, I hold no grudge,
But the thought of seeing her is hard to budge,
I appreciate your efforts, but please see,
That healing takes time, and it's just not me.

So, let us move forward, with love and care,
And continue to be there, and always share,
For in this life, we need each other,
But sometimes, we need space to heal and recover

Your man 25
