Freely Me

Location

Change.

Its more than just a simple word,

It’s a movement, a way of life.

Too bad society has changed for the worse.

Stop and look;

no longer is it okay to speak with sophistication,

that’s “out” speaking with the newest slang is “in”.

Stop and look;

speaking your mind is now looked at as a cry for attention.

Stop and look at what we have all become.

The world changing around us is very real,

While a lot of us are turning fake.

I wish it was still okay to be who we truly are.

For me to be freely me;

the me that never forgets face,

even if mine wasn’t worth remembering.

The me that laughs at all the wrong moments,

and cries at all the right ones.

The me that will pray for those who don’t know God,

even if they don’t think it will help.

The me that is still kind,

even though I know that it is only taken for weakness.

The truth is I hate using slang,

and I love to read any where I go.

And I know that’s socially unacceptable, but I don’t care because that’s who I am.

We filter who we are everyday,

without ever knowing it.

It  has morphed hiding who we truly are into real life.

It is our reality, but that is not who we have to become.

Do you want to see the real you before everything changed?

Turn off the filter and look in the mirror,

Its smiling right back at you.
