Freedom Riders
Fighting for freedom
Begging for mercy
Bravery was key

Twelve young people
Begging for their rights
Refusing to back down
Demanding change

Disobeying the laws
More like testing them
Demanding to be served
Demanding to be free
Demanding to be respected
Demanding the government to do right

Long bus rides down south
Fear in their eyes
Bravery in their heart

Freedom Riders
Beaten
Tortured
Shackled
Imprisoned

Refusing to back down
Over four hundred freedom rider participants
Whites going in colored only areas
Blacks doing the same
Change was on its way

Integrated signs soon faded
Long journey, that it was
Change was on its way

Civil Rights Movement
Music to their ears
In action
Freedom Rider had changed America
Forever

Freedom Riders
Fighting for freedom
Begging for mercy
Bravery was key

I enjoyed writing this poem and learning more about the Civil Rights Movement. Freedom Riders are a great inspiration to me when I am dedicated to do something, just go for it is my mind set.
