Happy little village
People dancing full of life
Telling stories to the children
Momma’s cooking, go and play
Daddy’s working, go away
Children running through the forest
Children climbing in the trees
Drums sounding
Hearts pounding
Children running home
Herbs and spices fill the air
Family people everywhere
Strange people show up
Different language no luck
Gold and silver is exchanged
Different people being chained
Shots ring out louder than the drums
Children crying for they mommas
Mommas weeping
Daddy gone
Strange land different home
People selling people
Broken bodies
Broken dreams
Food and water just to live
Hard work no pay
No freedom
SLAVE
Play dumb live longer
Secret meetings keep quiet
Songs of freedom Hope alive
Learn to read and write
Masta kill ya if he knew
Run away to the north
Freedom on the way
North against South
FREEDOM
Not hardly
Civil rights Whites only, no colored folks allowed
In the schools, restaurants and libraries for the whites
Colords fighting for their rights
White people getting scared
Colored people getting killed, Colored people lashing out
Big fights break out
Freedom bought with the price of our ancestor’s lives
