For me did Spartacus fight
Though he was crushed by roman might
For me did Leonidas fall
While fighting the Persian army abysmal
Did not the Pilgrims sail to gain me?
Was it not for me that Patrick Henry spoke?
For whom else did Boston harbor taste tea?

To gain my residence
Frances Scott Key witnessed a fight so noble
That expelled the British from Baltimore hence

Over ages men have sought me
Though for many, their quest ended in vain
As they laid their heads amongst the slain
And many more were left to hobble
For my services do have a fee
But my joys are greater than death
For by me men can regain their breath
Children can know no turmoil
While their fathers till the soil
Their mothers can rest happy
For by God’s Law I have been allotted
To dwell with the pure hearted
So rise from your glum
My name is freedom!
