Forgotten

A million people whose names I know

Yet none of them can tell me mine

How is it possible to know so many?

And yet be so forgotten at the same time?

A thousand tears have gone unshed

One for each person I have known

Who had died in vain and ignorance

I should have known it would end this way

I am the forgotten one,

Blamed to walk the Earth alone.

I am the unspeakable,

Yet they talked about me all the time

I am the things they want to be

Yet they see right through me

I am the one that no one knows

I am the forgotten one

These roadmaps I have always followed

None have shown me the correct way

I follow the paths alone, aimlessly,

Wishing for a guide to show me what I’ve missed

These hearts you claim I have broke

How could that have happened when

When no one claims to know who I am

And suddenly it all makes sense

I am the forgotten one,

Blamed to walk the Earth alone.

I am the unspeakable,

Yet they talked about me all the time

I am the things they want to be

Yet they see right through me

I am the one that no one knows

I am the forgotten one

Happiness is a gift

That I can’t afford

Sadness is a fairy tale

Transformed from abroad

Love is like a dream

I’ve been waiting for these things to find me

But it’s hopeless because

I am the forgotten one,

Blamed to walk the Earth alone.

I am the unspeakable,

Yet they talked about me all the time

I am the things they want to be

Yet they see right through me

I am the one that no one knows

I am the forgotten one
