Foreigner
Location
The billows dashed against the sky,
As if millions upon millions of swans,
Simultaneously flew.
I flew with them,
To build peace in my nest.
I was high above the air,
Above all the others.
I strove for excellence,
To prove my worth.
I strove for discipline,
To educate my mind.
I flew.
I have arrived,
In a stranger’s land.
I have cried,
For my mother land.
Pride is gone.
Comfort is lost.
Even a look,
Came with disgust.
I strangled,
In a tongue I did not know.
I struggled,
In the stack of books I borrowed.
For my future,
I will bite my tongue.
For those at home,
I will fly and warn.
Those who are ignorant,
Were my judges.
They cared less,
About my kind.
They did not know,
I was a success,
All they heard,
Was my accent.
With one stroke of their pens,
Hope.
With the other stroke,
Despair.
So, my friends,
Live your life.
But in the end,
I hope you see a smile,
Behind my foreign eyes.
