Fly Free

I signed my life away to see the world

I wanted to look in every corner

To cross the seas and scour distant lands

Venturing out to the unknown

Trying to find my place in this world

From the moment I walked out that door

I knew I would never be the same

I’d come back someone new

Or I’d never come back at all

And my travels would change me

Recreate me to be the person I was meant to be

Each night I fell asleep wondering

What if I had stayed home?

Making up stories in my head

Of spending my days with my family

Existing as I had

Instead of living

But I couldn't regret leaving

Being trapped in that home

A bird of prey caught in a cage

Wings clipped

Never to soar the skies again

I live for my adventures

Meeting people who've embraced their purpose

Who've left behind their old selves

To see a world beyond their imagination

The one percent

Knowing we were intended for something more

We are wandering souls

Meant to fly free
