Fly Fast

Sun, 09/28/2014 - 16:34 -- NJoanna

Often at night I run

but not only for fun.

If I can become strong and fast

if I can learn how to last,

maybe my shortcomings won't catch me

maybe I won't have to flee;

I can outpace any deadline

and build a life that is mine

I am the pilot of my flight

no obstacles I cannot fight.

To become a biomedical engineer

I will learn how to steer.

One mile, two, even three

as I fly through campus happy and free

vanquishing doubts through panting breath

Pounding closer to combat death

I know this is where I need to be

I'll find a cure you'll see

Now to hurry to class

for I am glad life gives no free pass.
