Flowers Grow, Not Desire

The flowers grow

But I could care less.

The birds are chirping again.

But their sound is not music to my ears.

The deer are out of hiding.

Now that’s some food for thought!

My life continues,

And so do these flowers.

A new life. A new me. And I love it.

The flowers grow,

But not my desire for my old life,

For balancing checkbooks on my dark cherry desk

Signing with my black Uni-ball pen,

For taking my dog out for walks.

For going to work and getting stuck in traffic

Every. Single. Freaking. Day.

For using my phone to take selfies

When I have all of nature to adore.

The flowers grow,

And who am I kidding,

I couldn't be more satisfied at how far in these woods I’ve come.
