The flesh and me

Ephesians 6:12 New English Translation (NET Bible)

12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world rulers of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavens.

2 Peter 2:9-10 New English Translation (NET Bible)

9 —if so, then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from their trials, and to reserve the unrighteous for punishment at the Day of Judgment, 10 especially those who indulge their fleshly desires and who despise authority.

Brazen and insolent, they are not afraid to insult the glorious ones,

“My flesh”, Hey! Here I go again.

I again pay you some attention.

I believe you to be worthless

but you’re taking all my time.

You’re filled with wickedness.

that I don’t like to be with you.

You defile everything you touch

and that happens all the time.

You influence my reasoning.

You control most of my mind.

You compliment yourself

when I’m acting very kind.

Your desires are never fulfilled.

You want more all of mine.

You’re constantly expanding

and that happens all the time.

You’re filled with “immortality”.

“I’m pure” is your middle name.

You’re selfish and you’re jealous.

You don’t have any shame.

You strife and like discretion

and are carousing like a rhyme.

At idolatry and sorcery, you smile

and that happens all the time.

You are at enmity with God.

You don’t like your Maker.

You want to rule in darkness.

In truth, you are a faker.

You’ve been dead since you were born

but you’re still feeling fine.

As long as you are getting your way

and that happens all the time.

Galatians 5:24 New English Translation (NET Bible)

24 Now those who belong to Christ have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

All you can reproduce

is exactly like you fake.

You can’t be changed or altered

long ago you chose that way.

You must die, you’re beyond repair,

that’s why you always whine.

When you’re dead to self ... it’s better

but that does not happen all the time.

Romans 6:6-7 New English Translation (NET Bible)

6 We know that our old man was crucified with him so that the body of sin would no longer dominate us, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin. 7 (For someone who has died has been freed from sin.)

In that state, you can be educated.

God’s will then regulate your way.

You can be tamed out of the simulation

as within self you quietly pray.

Oh, flesh! You are my body.

Oh, flesh!  You are my mind.

Oh, flesh!  You’re my old nature

and you know this all the time.

You can’t die although you cry in pretense

and on your own, you only clone your touch

only to self from 12 to 12, you make some sense

That I know because you are made as such

You act to live forever, blind as you can be

In your existence not seeing your decline

As in your selfishness, you’re into hypocrisy

Not seeing that you’re running out of time
