This Flawless Mess of Hair

Location

Hair like mine can be called a mane

Its calls to the curious hand

“You’ll lose it in there,” I joke half-heartedly

“You’ll never see it again”

There’s much more to me than these brown, bouncing curls

Much more that is never seen

There’s much more going on in the brain underneath

I am more than what I may seem.

I’m singing, I’m dancing, I’m laughing

I’m cocky, I’m crazy, I’m scared

I’m helpful, I’m caring, I’m sassy

Under this mess of hair

There’s much more to me than these brown, bouncing curls

Much more that is never seen

And although I am not fully defined by my hair,

My mane is a big part of me.

It gives me the courage to sing, laugh, and dance

The passion of cocky, crazy, and scared

It reminds me to be helpful, caring, and sassy

This flawless mess of hair
