the five senses of a politician

I am blind

I have a pair of eyes

sometimes even four.

I see you but not really...

I cannot perceive what is right in front of me.

The concept of beauty is lost to me.

I purchase hideous things.

What can I say?

I am blind

I am deaf

I have a set of ears

but my listening is faulty

I won't use aides though.

Speak, I hear you

Try if you will

Impart wisdom if you may

but I should warn you...

It will be lost in the mail

I am deaf

I am numb

I have a beating heart

I am made of flesh and bone.

Sticks and stones are sure to hurt me

Still, I cannot feel

I cannot feel the plight of Africa or the Middle East

These are just money making machines

shoot em up, starve em out

burn their homes, their mosques, and schools

give me their heads on a spike

I will not feel a thing

I am numb

I am a mute

don't get me wrong

I am loud

I love to talk

I live for the applause

I live for the way that you scream and cheer

but like an empty barrel

my words are meaningless

I speak but I say nothing

I am a mute.

I have no sense of smell

although I have a nose

the air may be rife with smoke from powder kegs

the streets may be rancid with spilled blood

I wouldn't know

I have no sense of smell

I cannot see

I cannot hear

I cannot feel

I cannot speak

I cannot smell

Vote for me
