Fire for you

There is a burning;

a fire of love in me.

It burns intensely for you.

Though you may try,

you will never extinguish it.

I sit and watch the birds chirp.

I feel the wind blow.

They whisper your name to me,

and my fire is reignited ever-blazing.

Your beauty, your smile, your laugh,

your everlasting kiss

burn within me as I pray for more.

Then one day, your fire was smothered.

The clouds gathered,

the thunder clapped,

a treacherous storm of pain rained down on us.

You sailed away, you weren’t ready for the storm.

You have abandoned me on this desolate island of love.

I sit and wait on the shores of our island, waiting,

knowing that my love, my fire for you, will always keep me warm.
