Finding My Passion
Location
I don’t have one true passion;
I have many.
My heart races when people ask:
What is your dream job?
Because I can not simply answer in a few words.
Otherwise, I would be lying.
This world is constantly changing.
From winter to summer, rain to snow,
Swinging my thoughts and ideas back and forth,
Never having a stable, clear plan.
But knowing God sees my journey
Going miles farther than I can see.
Next year, I am entering the next chapter
Of my life.
Scared and filled with wonder,
Like a butterfly breaking out of her cocoon.
Excited and anxious,
Like my first day of kindergarten.
The books and professors will teach me
How to teach.
I study to become a giver of knowledge
To children and teenagers in a classroom filled with potential.
Maybe I will teach third grade,
Like my mother.
Or maybe I will teach freshman biology,
Like my inspiring basketball coach.
I want to see kids grow and smile.
I want to see their faces when something clicks.
I want to make a connection with them.
I want to encourage them to persevere through hard times.
Teaching the younger generation would open up my eyes
To see a bigger world,
And learn new ideas
From the kids I am teaching.
You see, being a teacher you don’t just share the knowledge
You gain knowledge from your students.
But getting to share the love that I have
With others
Around the world
Would be life-changing.
China and Italy are calling my name
Their beauty speaks to me.
I know my God would be with me
Wherever I go.
Support from my mother and sisters
Would never leave.
So what am I waiting for?
What is standing in my way?
The world tells you that you need to be rich
To travel.
But they don’t realize
That you become rich when you travel.
Money should not be the issue
Hard work, motivation, dedication should lead the way.
With God’s hand guiding me
I know I will accomplish great things.
I have to trust Him,
Have confidence in myself,
And believe that everything happens
For a reason.
My dream job is sharing my love and hope
With others.
Giving and receiving knowledge everyday.
So I guess you could say
That my true passion is
Losing myself in the help of others.
