Final Thoughts of a Dying Man

The time has come

To end the suffering

Of those I love

Becoming weaker each day

My body corroding away

Confided to this bed

My life is ending

The only reason I am alive

Are of these machines

Wires connected to me

Keeping me past my expiration

I cannot accept this fate

My story will end my way

After walking this earth

For eighty-six years

My time is up

Leaning over to the wall

I see the switch

With my final breath

I turn my life off
