Filter, I Need You

Location

my filter is very real.

it does not only exist on instagram, but it exists all around me-

it exists in my mouth

it exists in my mind

it exists in my heart

it exists on my face

when my temper boils to the surface, my filter is there to turn the heat down

and when my mind drowns in a sea of sadness, my filter is there to disguise it.

but my filter is not fake.

my filter is not who i’m not

my filter does not drag me down

my filter builds me up

and when people tell me to not use my filter, it digs into my skin

ill use a filter if i damn well plea-

oh no

i need my filter now, to turn the temperature down.

Filter please, i need you, to keep the sadness inside,

filter i need you

to make sure my acne is not visible in this photo.

filter, you do so much for me.

filter, who am i without you?
