Fighting 'Til the End

We have fought for centuries in blood, sweat and tears,

And we will continue to do so these next few hundred years-

If it means you will be safe my love, my dear.

My heart races each time you appear in my dreams,

Your beautiful face mends my wounds at the seams,

And your love for me will keep back the horrid screams-

Each time I am faced with the most extreme.

The wounds I wear will not be easy to see,

I still push away the things I don't want to be--

A monster, a criminal that can fully take over me.

Not resisting is the only solution, the only key.

From here on out my heart will forever remain,

My dedication and love for my life will stay the same,

I promise to throw away the bad memories, the pain-

Until the day the fight is over, the day a bullet enters my brain.

That'll be the day I've ended this frightful game.

This poem is about:
Me
My family
My country
