Fighting for a Dream

Location

As children we are taught to follow our dreams.</> What is not taught is how difficult that actually is.</> We all try hard, some go to the extremes</> Just to have it all shoved in our face while kicked to our knees. </>To see this is so discouraging</> And often, more than not, we give up.</> Dreams are swallowed, digested, and flushed knowingly</> And some of us fall to the corrupt.</> There are so many obstacles standing in the way</> And, it appears that the world wants us to fail.</> However, will I allow my dreams to sit and lay With giving up charged against it without bail?</> NO!</> I am going to fight.</> Fight with every pound of muscle and ounce of energy I have.</> A spark in me ignites</> And sets fire to every thought of giving up I had.</> For although plenty have failed</> Many have succeeded.</> It is not impossible to prevail In the face of enemies, showing what you’ve completed. </>Nothing worth having comes easy</> Therefore I embrace the struggle not letting my dreams leave me.</> I will look up, not down</> I will go forward not back</> I will go through the window if they slam the door </> I will show everyone who I am and more.</> When I conquer my dreams</> I will look back on those obstacles</> And I will laugh, cry, and thank them with every means.</> For they make me stronger</> and they make me ME.
