Fields of Butterflies

Fields of butterflies were my favorite, but now I'll just stick to walking on the pavement. Yellow bee stings were the worst heartbreak, but now rejection letters ding. Dino chicken nuggets turned to a plate of green. Wishing upon a star was a magical thing, but now magic alone remained on tv. Preteens still an age of youth, wanting to grow fast with makeup, purses, and shoes. Couldn't wait for high school they say, as they tell their mom not to get involved in their everyday. Barbie obsessions were once so cool, but now not having a boy makes you a fool. It's sad how things change so fast, but without them, you would be an outcast.
