Fear?
Tap, tap, tap
Or rather, thud, thud, thud
Lub-dub, lub-dub
The throbbing beat in my chest
Uncontrollably echoing the chime of the unknown
Reminding me of what I have to lose
Forgetting all the times I faced my distress and won—
Fear—
Perplexing my mind
Syncing with my shaking leg
Sweating out my anxieties like a runner on a hot day
But do they ever really disappear?—
Fear—
Head spinning, mind racing
Stumbling legs, flailing arms
Dizzy…
And then all is black—
Fear—
Colors swarm again
My leg is still
Perspiration lies on my forehead
But more fails to escape my pores—
Fear?—
Hiding, waiting to come and attack again?
No
Sitting here afraid of fear
Fear is also afraid of me—
Fear?—
When I win, it disappears
Nobody to torture
Return, it cannot
Conquered
