Fat

Grabbing at the fat between your skin, stretching it further and further until the point where you just hope it will disconnect from your body

is not going to make your over-consuming insecurities crawl into the back of your head and disappear forever.

Comparing your naked body to another’s for the sake of finding flaws within your own

will not bring up your already decaying esteem and withered, dusty mental state.

You lose yourself in vain and sinful hallucinations, while the teacher drifts on regarding a subject you should be paying more attention to rather than

the curvy, blonde, full girls and the muscular, tall, athletic boys

with tonight’s flavor strewn across their arms and stapled to their hips.

Which pushes your mind to the conclusion that the extra fat between your beating heart and skin is the cause

to your lack of fulfilling those sinful needs and to your lonely Friday nights with your TV dinners rather than another beating heart.

Will not bring up your already decaying esteem and withered, dusty mental state.

Pushing your dinner, lunch, breakfast down the trash and buying weight loss in a bottle of colored pills

is more likely to push you closer to a dark, yet already impending, tunnel

than to the basket of healed feelings and wishful thinking that you want to create for yourself.

Because pacing between tumbling brick columns, waiting for self-acceptance of

the person inside the glass, staring directly at you at this moment

is only going to leave you pacing between columns tomorrow.

Because constantly and never endingly pacing between those forever tumbling brick columns, waiting for another beating heart to come and fix the columns and rescue you

is doomed to be meaningless

when you have the ability to disregard the fat that lays between you and fixing those tumbling brick columns yourself.

Because the way your skin appears to be is nothing while compared to the thoughts and emotions flowing between your beating heart.

Constantly consuming yourself with the idea that your skin means more than that flowing, beating heart

will only shield you from seeing that you were born beautiful and will remain so no matter what your skin looks like to you.
