Family Silence Morphs Violence
Location
As a little girl, I loved my family
Often I sat in a corner in awed silence
As I watched my father beat my mother.
Sitting, I watched the family violence.
One hit, two hit
Three hit, four
Two second pause,
My mother laid on the floor.
Thoughts in my head,
Fear in my eyes,
Never knowing what could happen,
Looking at her as she lays and slowly dies.
My father threw his leg up
Kicked my mother in the shoulder,
And with regret in his lost soul,
He knelt down to hold her.
She was gone, Father was all alone,
He was forced to deal
With what he had done to his wife,
Who no longer had a life, something that's so real.
