The Family From Mexico City

There’s a family

In Mexico City

Loud and Proud

And All So Pretty

There’s the mother

Coatlicue

Like Mother earth

She wears feathers that sway

There are children

In Mexico City

Coyolxauhqui and brothers

They’re so pretty

They’re popular at school

Worshipped like gods

They’re distant from Mom

Which is rather odd

Mother is pregnant

Siblings are mad

Mom is expecting

A child she had

Huitzilopochtli is the name of the boy

He is Mama’s favorite

The siblings are mad

How dare she pick favorites?

Huitzilopochtli grows old

He dances cumbia at school dances

He makes tamales for Christmas

He’s making advances

Coyolxauhqui and co are upset

That their baby brother is beloved

Not only that

But his father unloved

How dare Coatlicue have an affair?

With a feathery man?

The siblings disown Mom

They leave without plan

Mother is hurt

She gently weeps

She would’ve pulled out her sandal

Instead, Huitzilopochtli creeps

How dare they hurt my Mama?

They’re got to pay

I’m getting revenge

I’m getting it today

Huitzilopochtli’s siblings have social media

They post all the time

He shows the terrible things they say

And all their crimes

The siblings lose their jobs

And some friends

It feels like being beheaded

It never ends

Coyolxauhqui and co

Conspire and plan

They jump their little brother

And beat him with their bare hands

Huitzilopochtli, injured and hurt

Is rushed to a hospital

Where people donate blood

He’s saved from that pickle

He’s alive in, Mexico City

He urges people to donate blood

He wants them to save lives

Huitzilopochtli is a cool bud
