Falsified Love

“Because I love you, do this for me.”

This is the phrase of wavered deceit

The beginning is neutral, tranquil, and clean.

But beheld is a twist, a lost soul will meet.

The selfish reaction to a pleasant person,

Is the unhealthy desire of all about “me.”

But to the innocent, blind to personal intrusion,

Cheerfully giving with no end to foresee.

But maybe the instigator of a seemingly harmless request

Knows not of the virtue it is to repay.

As though for years the instigator will test,

The selflessly abandoned’s ability to play.

“Because I love you, I do this for you.”

This is the one who selflessly gives,

Expecting nothing in return, fine by you.

As if this could last for as long as they live.

But notice what seems to be missing?

An unbalanced load on the brink of tipping,

A dead ox on the yolk pulled by the living,

An unhealthy abuse of the word “love” we are using.

“Because I love you, we should come to our senses.

The imbalance is painful and dragging me down.”

“But I don’t see it,” “because of your subconscious fences,

Boarding up your kingdom around.”

Thus the doomed predestined to fail.

For a the folly of one taking advantage of “love.”

We pray the innocent’s heart grows not pale,

For the strenuous ringing of the false word “love.”

“Because I love you” should be a reason to try.

Try without ceasing nor come to a halt.

Selflessly helping when waters are dry,

And recognize true love points out no fault.
