Falling to Ash

Location

And it's really sad, how this all worked out.

I watched the scene alter, watched it all fall down.

With a tear or two, maybe three.

I can feel them drowning, or is it me?

And then my head starts spinning - and everything starts to turn.

And I can hear their hearts beating - and feel our skin burn.

And I will never understand how you'd think so little of someone and decide when their time's done.

And I will never understand how this was part of God's plan but I'll just have to trust.

Thirteen years ago 2,996 more people were alive....

And I cry for them and their families, and for the places and people they will never meet.

And they were sons, so I cry for their fathers,

And the mothers, who lost their beautiful daughters.

And I long to give them my heart,

I long for them to never part -

from me, from you, from us.

And it's really sad, how this all worked out.

I watched their scene alter,

and we both fell to the ground.
