Hebrews 12:1-2 

The Race of Faith

12 Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses,

let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, 

and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 looking unto Jesus,

the Author and Finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross,

despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of theThrone of God.

 

The pathway of feeling bids us to neglect duty.

The path of faith calls us not to neglect the same.

The easiest way to fall by the wayside

is to compromise on one ... and treat it like a game.

 

Emotional Christians are weak under attack

Powerless and helpless ... when their feelings are at steak.

Evil can touch each facet with fallen intentions

Constantly hammering ... never taking a break.

 

When the pounding lets up ... they think to be delivered

And then through same emotion ... they do praise the Lord.

As the evil one smiles ... and waits for another moment

To destroy their witness ... for they are easy prey.

 

By faith the inner man remains untouched.

There is a clear division between spirit and soul.

The soul gathers ... and lays things up for itself

And the spirit simply moves ... for God’s Glory and Goal.
