Fairy tale

They tell us to dream of things, use our imagination,

They tell us stories of fairy tales where everything has a happy ending,

But those tales are lies, for the characters actually met an untimely demise,

It sets up expectations for reality, that falls on deaf ears,

There ain't no fairy tales in this world, there's heartbreak and betrayal,

pain, and panic, stabbing in the back

But they tell us if you wish upon a star your dream will come true,

nevermind how much you have to work for it

It won't fall in your lap, no matter how much you wish for it,

Time and time again, no fairies will visit you unless you visit a ren faire,

There is such thing as the "lost boys" and it ain't fun,

There's gruesome detail in the original brother's Grimm,

That shows society our world today,

But they spruce it up for the little children,

Giving them dreams instead of nightmares,

life ain't no fairy tale,

And dreams will never become reality
