Fail Great

Why do we judge

by success

to determine greatness

Look at her.

Pestering scientists to

study, research, and collaborate,

President

in student government and

clubs galore,

Working part-time,

Athletic.

So young.

So talented.

So intelligent.

So successful.

And me?

I’ve

Tried.

Cried.

Set my standards high.

Did things

I thought

I could defy.

Positioned myself to be

like them

only to

fail

again

in the end.

I’m here

every Sunday

everyday

praying

loving

teaching

volunteering

feeding the poor

participating

in shows while

fundraising

I’m staying home

saving money

helping the family

But tell me

which is more successful

in money earning

and college impressing

Unsuccessfulness

is unfailing.

I’m done

so done

no joke

So stop

comparing

my greatness.
