The Facts of Life

It’s easy to say that life is hard.

It’s easy to say you’re struggling through.

Easy to say you drew the wrong card.

And easy to say it’s all against you.

Life isn’t easy, that’s not what I’m saying,

Sometimes things are harder than you know.

Maybe you can’t fix everything by praying,

And maybe all the sunshine has given way to snow.

Sometimes there are disasters,

Sometimes things hurt and people die.

Of our fate we are never the masters,

And some days you can’t help but cry.

But look at the amazing things about life,

Examine the good instead of the bad!

Look at the prosperity instead of the strife;

Look at the happy instead of the sad!

The sun in the sky, the breeze in the air,

The infectious smile of a child at the park;

The feeling of snowflakes falling in your hair!

Let all these wonderful things warm your heart.

Think about music; a melody or two

And think about falling deeply in love.

Think of tall mountains and an ocean of blue,

And think of the beautiful songs of a dove.

When you think of all of these beautiful things,

This amazing world that you’re living in.

Forget the elusive diamond rings,

Focus on things deeper than the skin.

You can see life is gorgeous and real

You can see things aren’t always as bad as they seem.

You can see the things that make you feel

Intense happiness and make your smile gleam.

Life is amazing and beautiful too,

Just watch the blooming of a cherry blossom.

Watch things grow, feed your spirit too.

Learn to see, life is truly awesome.
