I remember the brave face through all the pain. “I hate you Cancer!” you took my aunt away. The day she told us we tried to remain the same, but you ripped two families apart that day. “I have Breast Cancer", she said softly. Time stopped that day. A single mom, who lost her world just ten years ago. You took her husband quickly, left her with two young sons and all that pain. "How could you do this; yet you did. No second chance. She didn’t shed a tear, she endured it all. Radiation, chemo, fatigue, and pain. Her attitude carried her with her boys by her side. Her family is with us now. They are part of us and our life. This bond, this love, you could not break. Family beats cancer with everything we have to give. “I hate you cancer!” My cousins, her sons, were left alone, we gave what was ours; our hearts, our life forever. They surrendered to a battle you started without a chance to fight back. “We love you mom” were the last living words from them to her and then you ripped them apart. We are stronger now we have each other, our love. You take and take, but you did not break us. Maybe we have won after all. “I hate you Cancer!”
