The Faces of Love

Because I love you is not about me,

My vision has changed and you are all I see.

Love doesn't happen all by itself,

It grows from within, no longer just self.

I choose to experience all that love brings,

Happiness or sorrow or unfathomable stings.

I choose the former and respect is the key,

For true love is about the other and not about me.

Empathy, compassion, and giving of oneself,

Living for another and forgetting myself.

Selflessness, patience, kindness, and joy,

Building one up, never seeking to destroy.

It is our choice to have love in life,

I choose to pursue happiness, not strife.

We cause love to happen or not,

Or stay in the shadows with the life we've got.

Life and love walk hand in hand,

The possibilities are immeasurable as grains of sand.

The value of a trusted love,

Can only be measured by the worlds above.
