The Ex-Girlfriend

Location

A nap

isn't a nap

without a phone call from your boyfriend.

Of course, he's not your boyfriend

anymore, is he?

Slipping and tripping

on your lost emotions

over that dumb,

scrawny boy

with his lanky limbs

and dorky grin.

But here you are, friend,

ex-girlfriend.

So dear ex-boyfriend,

pretend like you're okay without me.

I guess that's fine.

"Just friends" is gonna kick your ass.

I've cried enough

over your words, your feelings,

how you just thought it was "time."

"We can still hang out."

You bet your ass,

and when we dance real slow at prom

I'll lean in close

and whisper in your ear,

"Miss me yet?"
