Eviction Day

Location

Our minds have too many tenants.

If we added hinges to our heads

We could evict

Mr. Hate

And those nasty chihuahuas of his,

Prejudice, who likes to bite

And Anger, who barks all night.

We could evict

Old Woman Worry

She can hide in some other attic.

While our minds were empty, we could clean it all up

We could change that flickering lightbulb

For one with steadier resolve.

We could kill off that infestation of greedy termites

And maybe then our minds would be nice enough to attract tenants like...

Mrs. Love

With her pretty doves, singing of Compassion and Fairness

And that old man, Courage, who sallies forth to help on every occasion

What happy homes our minds would be

If we added hinges to our heads.
