I remember the high pitch scream

I heard from downstairs

It tickled the hairs in my ears

And tightened my blood flow

I ran downstairs and saw Mama cry

The heat from my hot tears kissed my cheeks

And for a moment I stood still

Everything stood still and I was lost

Today was the first day of grieving and it pierced my heart and soul

But I had to learn to move past that

I had to learn to recognize how beautiful the sky was

I had to smile at the fact I can see how beautiful it was

I had to think of tomorrow

I looked at Mama, patted her shoulder, and closed the door

We’re still here; we still have a chance

What’s awesome about life is that you have the now

The now to change something you do not like

The now to pursue your desire

The now to be bold and courageous

The now to create a better tomorrow

The now to try something new, learn something new, accept something new

The now to reform yourself and kiss the air in celebration of your new transformation

The now to say forget about it, it hurts and I don’t want to feel pain

The now to inhale and exhale yesterday’s worries and smile at the unexpected ones

The now to speak to the guy or girl you always wanted to speak to

The now to be silly and act without limitations that is beneficial to all

The now to challenge your identity

We have the now, the present, life

And as long as we are living, we have the power to sculpt life in the way we want it as long as we have the energy of now aligned with our efforts

And that is what makes everything awesome
