Everyone's Okay

Some nights I still dream of you.

I picture you in your favorite chair.

Your eyes fixed on the latest headline,

Your forehead folded into a crease.

I bet you're still being mischievous with your silly little grin.

While I run in bare-footed,

Excited to see what you have planned.

You taught me to be strong,

But sometimes I cannot keep the tears from escaping.

Even after all this time,

I still use your morals as my own.

They are used every time I feel alone.

You were the only one who could make me giggle when times were sad.

So many good memories we have had.

I don't like the way people talk about you like you were.

They pity me, and try to send words of comfort.

But I know that you still are.

So there is no need to worry at all,

Although I am a little sad.

But I'm fine with coping, because I have a comforting thought.

It's everyone else who wonders where you are.

I'm pretty sure I know,

Because if you could not make it to heaven, I don’t think anyone will.
