Even Pablo Escobar Can Go to Heaven

I was always an unusual girl, my mother told the that I had a chameleon soul. No moral compass pointing me due north, no fixed personality. Just an inner indecisiveness that was as wide and as wavering as the ocean.”—Lana Del Rey

As a child, I was taught that there are explicitly two types of people,

‘Good Guys’ and ‘Bad Guys’.

Black and White.

Place the ‘Good Guys’ on a gold-pleated marble pedestal.

Create a solidified emotional alliance with them and and immediate loathing and disdain for the ‘Bad Guys’

For ‘Bad Guys’ can’t have a heart, or morals, or somewhat understandable reasons as to why they do ‘bad guy’ things;

‘Good Guys’ are perfectly righteous, always moral-following saints who do not have ‘Bad Guy’ motives or intentions at all.

Moral absolutism has been kneaded into society’s soft, young brains since the beginning of humankind.

We so often forget

That the lioness who so primally slays the innocent gazelle

Would rather starve herself and have her cubs eat first than ensure her own well-being.

The infamously renown drug lord, Pablo Escobar, sacrificed—with his blood-stained red murderous hands— billions of pesos to act as fuel for a bonfire to keep in the mere hopes of solely keeping his daughter warm.

And yet, if Escobar were to stand in front of any one person today they would shoot him down with so much as a swift dagger of a glance

No opportunity for empathy.

No questions about his possible detrimental childhood.

No room for empathy.

I am the morality that the world so lacks.

I shun the idea of moral absolutism.

I seek empathy and sympathy; I yearn some for of understanding towards people’s choices and the reasons behind them.

I do not leap to prejudice conclusions.

I do not condemn those who make mistakes,

Whether they reside as present as the Himalayas or as infinitesimal as a speck of gossamer dust gliding in mid air.

I find understanding as to why they have made mistakes and from there I guide with genuine and sincere love.

I am Flawless.
