Ephemeral Link

You and I have never met.

You know nothing about my past,

and I know nothing about yours.

You have your interests

and I have my own.

And yet—

I can write

and you can read.

I can speak

and you can hear.

We live separate lives.

But we can still unite in abstract

through an idea

penned here

and reified there.

We’ve never met.

We’re separated

by mountain and by sea.

And yet—for this moment, you and I

have become a “we.”
