Embattled Love
As tears well
Drawn from affection yet no grasp
Our embraces have spark
A small glimmer of life
And after each removal of warmth
The world grows dim
Tears stream purely
How can one not see the damage?
Those eyes of mahogany
Reach deep to the soul
Such irritation like sand upon a mollusk's tongue
Could such distress spawn a beaming pearl
And place upon my lips, your's?
Foolish
Torn apart by self and saint
Wondering shall linger for years
And fade as a pearl shaped tear
Upon my worn cotton shirt.
