The Election

The Election.

My biggest fear.

I never thought my life would come to this,

Sent into this spiraling abyss,

With family and friends,

Neighbors and lovers,

Torn apart by the threat of others.

Trump or Clinton?

Tweedledee or Tweedledum?

Does it even matter?

"They both have faults,

They both suck!"

Everyone just told me to shut up.

I hated myself,

I hated the world.

How could they let this go?!

Why couldn't anyone else see?

We were going to hell!

And it was nasty!

Even when the verdict had come,

It caused such a conundrum!

Riots left and right,

I had never seen so many fights.

"Peace!" I said," This doesn't help us!"

"Shut up!" they said," You don't know enough!"

I want to move,

So many other places seem to know what to do.

I have  never been so disappointed in my country,

So enraged, so mad,

So isolated.

Why, America? Is this "great again?"

My country
