Education Rant

Let’s take a minute to talk about something we all know and “love”

“Education is important” We’re told.

But when did it start being sold?

If it’s so “important” why make us pay?

Taking our money day after day,

It’s loads of work and my time is spent.

No wait! Hear me out; just let me vent.

We pay for our classes but you tell me,

Where does the money go?

Where could it be?

The men who sit so high and tell us what’s right,

They collect the money and keep it out of sight.

These people, they choose how our classes are run.

They make even the creative classes no fun!

No supplies?

“We don’t have the money.” “It’s not in the budget.”

Those are lies!

More like:

“We don’t want to use it on you.”

“We will use it on useless cheap things that wont benefit you.”

Banners and uniforms and blow up things for football.

Is this how they got their education?

It’s how I’m getting mine!

“It raises morale.”

It doesn’t do CRAP!

When I don’t have enough supplies for class,

I’m going to snap!

These teachers are frustrated and restricted.

They have guidelines and harsh rules.

They don’t have freedom in schools.

Because of the standards, their teaching is lame,

Every class is almost the same.

How am I supposed to learn,

When all I do is yearn…

To make one last plate in ceramics,

To take that one last shot in photo,

Or to spend one more minute playing an instrument in band?

A little more funding is all it would cost.

If we had more free range,

We would be strange…

Strange and creative, enthusiastic members of society.

But taking away our outlets and making a structure.

Ugh! The district’s methods give me anxiety.
